Sometimes, it takes a profound change to make us truly realize our blessings. During the pandemic, many of us found ourselves nostalgic for all of the little moments we took for granted. We missed chatting with neighbours, hosting big dinners, and gathering our loved ones close for a hug. We longed for the days when we could once again exchange smiles and shake hands freely. As a Paphos wedding photographer, I’m continually amazed by the exuberance of couples like Rebecca and Stephen. Despite the challenges of the last few years, they found a way to nurture the bond between them. They turned to their love as a source of security, safety, and sustenance in a rapidly changing world… And emerged from dark times with a renewed sense of commitment, ready to enter into marriage.
Fittingly, Stephen and Rebecca’s wedding began with a toast to the bright future ahead. As Stephen prepared for the wedding with his friends and family, they each raised a glass of rum, smiles beaming. Meanwhile, Rebecca struck a playful pose with her bridesmaids, laughing and teasing before her mother helped her dress. Together, adorned in hues of white and green, they embodied the fresh hope and innocence of springtime.
Then, the wedding party emerged into the light of a perfect sunny day, taking their seats in preparation for the wedding. A hush fell over the guests as they watched Stephen and Rebecca speak their vows: His warm eyes brimming with tears of gratitude, Stephen promised to love and cherish Rebecca always. Rebecca, placing a hand on his chest, told him she had found her home in his heart. With that, the couple kissed and embraced, so caught up in emotion that the world fell away around them. Nothing mattered beyond the fact that now – at last – they were husband and wife.
