Many people, as children, dream of becoming great explorers as they read tales in their history books about the many pioneering adventurers of yore. Alas, as they grow up, they learn that virtually every corner of the globe, from North Pole to South, has already been claimed by human exploration.
Many then give up on their dreams, tame their adventurous spirit, but some take another path—they look to the last great unknown on Earth: The ocean. The ocean’s depth is unfathomable, and we humans have explored less than five per cent of it (indeed, we have explored more of the moon than we have the world’s seas). It is teeming with strange new life, with hidden rifts, peaks, and valleys.
It is this great mystique, the thrill of the unknown and the untouched marvels of the undersea kingdom, which drives the passion of many divers like Alexandra and Sascha. Lost in the tranquil yet sometimes dangerous blue world under the waves, these two adventurers made the greatest and most surprising discovery of all: True love.
These modern-day mer-people bonded quickly, their shared love of the ocean so strong that, when it came time to get married, there seemed no more natural place to do so than underwater; Alexandra and Sascha officially tied the knot in the Bahamas while submerged. For wedding guests, they had 30 sharks which had the good manners to show up in attendance.
The party did not end there, of course; the couple followed up their shark-filled celebration with a unique wedding in Agya Napa, here in Cyprus. Never ones to stray far from the shore, Alexandra and Sascha hosted this beautiful wedding at Grecian Park Hotel, a five-star resort which boasts breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and a unique cliffside bar.
Looking like fire and ice in attire that blended white with vivid reds, the couple said vows before enjoying speeches and a cocktail party at the beautiful resort bar, with its grand views of the sea stretching off into the distance. It was the perfect backdrop for two people standing on the edge of their future together, both overlooking a distant horizon which beckons them onwards to their next great adventure…
