Today’s blog post brings us to one of our more active photo shoots in the heart of Limassol’s old town. The shoot took place at the Mimosa Bar, a rustic bar in an ambient setting with a simple backdrop and subdued lighting, situated in a quiet location near Saripolou Square.
Professional Photographer | Capturing Music Beats & Vibes
It is at this bar where the focus of our photo shoot – professional DJ Christoforos – can usually be found playing his set. In addition to being resident DJ at Mimosa Bar he is also one half of DJing duo Aurora Borealis, who mix trance and progressive melodies. He is also a producer and has already composed a song as Aurora Borealis called ‘Keep you for Myself’.
This shoot was taken back in December 2013 after Christoforos approached me seeking a professional photographer to take some shots for his portfolio. In addition to taking the photographs we spent some time talking about his background, love of music and career.
Christoforos has been DJing for 10 years and has frequented many local bars and clubs including Dolce & Breeze. But it’s not just in Cyprus where this established DJ plays his music. He recently flew to Romania for an opening, and has also played in the UK and Greece.
At Mimosa Bar he plays deep house, tech house and progressive house music though he has a particular preference for lounge music. For the shoot I tried something unique for my professional photographer career, trying to capture a sense of Christoforos’ personality through the pictures.
Christoforos is every inch your archetypal DJ: Lively and bursting with energy, yet relaxed at the same time. He has a good energy that was great fun to capture throughout the shoot, and is clearly very passionate about what he does.
As a professional photographer it’s always refreshing to do a shoot that involves someone’s passion. I really enjoyed spending time with Christoforos in a place that he likely calls home, enjoying the laid-back sounds of his music as we captured some images of one of Limassol’s most popular DJs.
